EPPING – Jennifer Maki stood on the Beede Road bridge over Route 101 at Exit 6 to grieve for long-time friend Walter Welch Jr. Sunday afternoon. She said she felt she needed to visit the place where the 40-year-old Fremont man was shot and killed by a state trooper during an encounter on the overpass early Saturday night.
