Library update for the week of July 2, 2012

Press release for week of July 2, 2012

Epping’s Summer Reading Program is underway! From June 25th to August 17th kids from preschool to middle school will be asked to “Dream Big, Read!”. Registration will be open through the month of July and only takes a quick minute at the children’s room desk. Once registered, children need only read (or find someone to read with them) and record their time on their reading log. For every 30 minutes of reading each child will receive $1 in ‘Book Bucks’ to spend in the SRP Store which opens July 10th. During July and early August there will be crafts and challenges relating to weekly themes where kids may earn additional library money.

During the week of July 9th the summer reading program will investigate creatures of the night who are mostly heard but not seen. Anyone who has spent time near one of NH’s many lakes has probably heard the haunting call of the Common Loon. On Wednesday, July 11th The Loon Lady will be at the library with an interactive program that peeks into the life of Grapenut, a loon that lives on nearby Lake Massebesic. With amazing slides and video taken of Grapenut and his family, kids will learn fun facts about these living dinosaurs and come away with a new appreciation of this incredible bird. The free program, designed for children 7 and older and interested adults will begin at 1:00 in the children’s room.

Epping’s public library is open Monday – Friday from 10 am to 8 pm and Saturday 10 to 2. For more information call 679-5944, or visit www.eppinglibrary.com.
