Great reading achievements were celebrated at the Harvey-Mitchell Memorial Library’s SRP Wrap-Up Party on September 14th. 227 readers logged 105,924 minutes during Epping’s summer reading program and awards were presented to top readers and volunteers while everyone gathered around the campfire. Blake Snyder won top reader for the preschool age group with 770 minutes, Gabriel Reynolds topped the Kindergarten list with 2,950 minutes and his brother Uriah won the award for the 1st graders with 3,075 minutes. Pacy Morgado received the top reader award in the 2nd grade age group by reading 2,166 minutes, Aletheia James earned the 3rd grade award with 1,920 minutes. Joanna Reynolds captured the award for top 4th grade reader by reading 4,330 minutes and her brother, Josiah won the top reader for both the 5th grade and the entire program by putting in 5,145 minutes of reading this summer! Nice going, Josiah! Maylee Gagnon topped the list for the middle school readers with 2,130 minutes and came in second for the most volunteer hours worked, outdone by only one hour by Kiley LaFond who volunteered 58.5 hours during the program. Congratulations to readers and volunteers alike! Anyone who was not able to attend the party may still pick up their certificate at the children’s room desk. Keep reading and dreaming big!


On Thursday, October 4th join Gary Brandt and Jackie Davidson for an evening of singing the good old songs again. This groovy evening will begin at 7:00 pm and include many classic folk songs from the sixties. Toe tappers and sing-along-ers are welcome and encouraged to attend.


Friday, October 12th sees the return of PJ Movie Night to the children’s room. Beginning at 6:30 this month’s movie is the third in a series of rated G adventures from Disney about a group of chihuahuas in Hollywood. Popcorn will be provided by the Friends of the Library. Patrons are asked to bring a snack to share and a spill-resistant drink. All children must be accompanied by a responsible big person.


Epping’s public library is open Monday – Friday from 10 am to 8 pm and Saturday 10 to 2. The library will be closed on Monday, October 8th in observance of Columbus Day. For more information call 679-5944, or
