Epping Library News week of October 29, 2012

PJ Movie Night in November will feature the newest story from Disney about Tinkerbell and her friends. The movie will start at 6:30 on Friday, November 9th in the children’s room. Popcorn will be provided and guests are encouraged to bring a spill-resistant drink and a snack to share. The next Pajama Night will be “The Magic of Christmas” on Friday, December 14th.

The Story Explorers have been studying the themes and characters of children’s author Mercer Mayer in their annual author study, and will end the fall session with a visit from a local storyteller-turned author. Shawn Middleton has regaled Epping audiences with his stories before, but this time will be presenting his own published stories on Tuesday, November 13th at 3:30. Elementary school-aged children are invited to join the Story Explorers group as they look behind the scenes at the process of writing a kids book from inspiration to publication, including tips and activities to get the kids excited about writing. This is sure to be an afternoon full of creativity and fun.

First and Second grade readers are invited to practice their reading aloud with Miss Angela. The next 6 week session of Reading Friends begins November 14th. This group meets on Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 to 4:30 and provides emerging readers with a small, safe group to practice their reading skills. Preregistration is required as class size is limited, and snack is provided. Parents are required to stay in the building during class time.
