Epping’s Jim Riordon set for baseball to begin

Jimmy Riordon believes one of these days he’ll become Jim Riordon.

Quite possibly when the 6-foot-2, 240-pound first-baseman from Epping High School begins playing baseball for Worcester State College this coming fall.

For now, though, and for most of his years growing up in Epping, he’s been Jimmy to his friends and teammates, whether he’d be playing basketball, soccer, football or his favorite sport, baseball.

Baseball has always been Riordon’s favorite, his passion.

Maybe that’s why Riordon wasn’t totally disappointed he finished nine points short of the 1,000-point mark this past basketball season, his senior season.

The thought of the baseball season looming ahead, he notes, “let me get over it real quick. I was excited to play baseball.”

Baseball has been Riordon’s passion since he began hitting the ball off the tee playing T-ball in the Epping Youth Athletic Association program.
