Party with a Purpose-Freshman Class EHS

Epping business owner Heather Toland, an Independent Consultant and National Vice President with Arbonne International, is helping the Epping High School Freshman Class in raising funds by facilitating a Fundraiser that will take place between now and March 31st. The goal is to raise anywhere from $500 to $1,000+ by having a minimum of six (6) people host Parties with a Purpose! You may choose to have either a Spa Party or a Living Well Party that would take place between now and March 31st. These Parties With a Purpose will enable family and friends of the respective Freshman to support the Fundraiser by choosing from products that are consumable, non-toxic and safe. Another great perk is this Fundraiser allows you to divert what you are already spending as many of the products every household has on their grocery list at some point during the month.

What do these Parties “look like?” They are informative as important skincare and health information is shared, they are interactive and they are fun! The hosts’ will be encouraged to have 6-8 guests which would consist of neighbors, friends, co-workers, family, etc. We want this to be a community effort verses just the parents of the freshman hosting or being present at these Parties. As a thank you to the host, they will receive free products, as well as 50-80% specials. This will help them receive their favorite products that they learned about without effecting the donation amount to the Class.

For those people that are familiar with the high quality of Arbonne’s products and have a large “shopping list,” hosting is a great option to get what they would like as well as help the Freshman Class!

Epping resident Karen Haley will be at the library during Preschool Storyhour this week to read her book “The Adventures of Little Bri Bear: How Come Mum, How Come?” It’s not often we have a story read by the author! Children ages 2-6 are invited every week to Miss Tracie’s Storyhour for stories, songs, crafts and social time with other kids their age and their caregivers. This is a drop-in program that meets on Wednesday mornings at 10:30, and Thursdays at 10:30 and 1:30. Along with bear stories, the kids will be using rubber stamps to decorate cards for Valentine’s Day. Check our website for future themes and projects.

PJ Movie Night on Friday, February 10^th features the newest in the series of “buddies” movies from Disney. This time the pups find themselves in the ruins of ancient Egypt. The movie is rated G and will begin at 6:30. Guests are invited to wear their PJs and bring a snack to share and a spill-resistant drink. Pizza from Epping’s Community Church as well as popcorn will be provided by the Friends of the Library. All children must be accompanied by a responsible big person.

The library will present “Covered Bridges of New Hampshire” on Thursday, February 23^rd at 7:00. Glenn Knoblock of Wolfeboro Falls will guide us through bridge design and technology, folklore, and stunning images of these architectural treasures. This program is made possible with a grant from the New Hampshire Humanities Council.

The vacation movie series returns to the children’s room the week of February 27^th with a kid’s movie each afternoon at 1:00. There will be no Preschool Storyhour that Thursday afternoon.

The Harvey-Mitchell Memorial Library welcomes February with the following programs:

Epping Knit Night warms the downstairs every second and fourth Wednesday evening. Bring your own needles and yarn and enjoy the company of other knitters without the distractions that present themselves at home. The next Knit Night will be on Wednesday, February 8th at 7:00 pm. The Harvey-Mitchell Memorial Library has received a $1,550 Wal-Mart Foundation Local Community Grant for technology enhancement. The library will purchase additional computers for the public to have free access to the Internet and word processing. The Wal-Mart Foundation Local Community Grants enhance public services and organizations in communities where Wal-Mart is a prominent employer and neighbor. The library is very appreciative of Wal-Mart’s partnership in its efforts to expand Epping residents’ access to the wealth of employment, educational and cultural resources available on the Internet.

A new program for kids has just started! The Reading Friends Book Club meets on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30, and provides an opportunity for first and second graders to practice their read aloud skills with Miss Angela. The group will meet for 6 weeks each session, and is limited to 8 children. This is not a drop-in program, but requires preregistration by calling or stopping by the children’s room. Snack will be provided and parents or caregivers are expected to remain in the building during the hour the group meets. The first session began on January 11^thand will continue through February 22^nd. The next session will begin on March 7^th.

It has been 150 years since the start of the American Civil War, and enthusiasts of this period in history are enjoying various venues to share their passion. Coming on Friday January 20^th is the first public screening of “Charging Lead”, a short film set during the Civil War directed by Epping seventh grader Tyler Wilkins and featuring 2 small brigades of Epping Middle School students. Beginning at 6:30, this event will include opportunities for discussion with the cast and crew in addition to multiple viewings of the film. For those interested in learning more about NH’s role in the Civil War, The NH Civil War Roundtable welcomes the public to its monthly meeting at Town Hall that same night beginning at 7:15.

EPPING—Director Elaine Gatchell announces open auditions for Leddy Center’s summer production of “Fiddler on the Roof”, being presented July 6-22. Auditions are Saturday, February 11, at Leddy Center at Verdant Pastures on Ladd’s Lane in Epping.

Please bring a headshot, prepare a song from the show, and be ready to do a cold reading and learn some dance steps!

Do you like to knit? Do you have a knitting project sitting on your needles that you never seem to find time for? The library will be offering a time and place to knit with friends on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month in the children’s room. Bring your own needles and yarn and enjoy the company of other knitters without the distractions that present themselves at home. January 13th is the date for the first Pajama Night of 2012. HMML’s Pajama Night invites children ages 2-8 and their families to wear their coziest PJs to the library for crafts, a scavenger hunt through the library, snacks, songs and stories. This month the theme is gingerbread, so there will be some well-known stories and some sweet projects. Pajama Night begins at 6:30 and runs until 7:45 on the 2nd Friday of most months. February’s Pajama Night will be a movie night on Feb. 10th featuring the newest release from Disney’s Buddies series. Families attending PJ Nights are asked to bring a snack to share so there’s enough for everyone at the snack table.
