February’s Pajama Night will be a movie night on Feb. 10th featuring the newest release from Disney’s Buddies series.

The holiday season has arrived and the Friends of the Harvey Mitchell Memorial Library in Epping are holding a raffle in to raise money for the many incidentals they provide to the library and its patrons. In place of their usual silent auction, the F.O.L. will raffle themed gift baskets and several local restaurant gift certificates between now and December 16th. In addition to the Starbucks basket and the Book-themed basket in the raffle, a NH-Themed basket will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Patrons use their library card number to place bids. Raffle tickets are available at the main desk, not far from the basket display, for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Winners will be selected at 7 pm on Friday, December 16th.

Interested in what the Friends do? They are now meeting on the 2nd Tuesday each month to discuss ways to support and enhance the programs offered by the library, including providing pizza and popcorn for movie nights, funding for special programs and much more! This small but enthusiastic group is always open to new members who love the library and want to find a way to give back. Their next meeting is Tuesday, December 13th at 7 pm.

The Magic of Christmas Pajama Night returns to the library Friday, December 9th. Beginning at 6:30 children ages 2-8 and their families are invited to wear their comfiest and most festive pajamas for North Pole-inspired crafts, a library-wide scavenger hunt and songs and stories celebrating the magic of the season. Please bring a snack to share to insure that there will be enough goodies for all. The library will provide egg nog, hot (but not too hot) cocoa, and plenty of good cheer.

ENVIROVANTAGE RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE IN CONSTRUCTION BY ASSOCIATED BUILDERS AND CONTRACTORS OF MASSACHUSETTS

EnviroVantage, an Epping, NH-based environmental and specialty services contractor, is the recipient of a second place Excellence in Construction Award from the Massachusetts Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).

EnviroVantage’s award in the annual statewide competition is in the “Commercial/Institutional/Industrial under $1 million” category for its work on the T.J. McIntyre Federal Office Building in Portsmouth. EnviroVantage is one of only 16 contractors selected as recipients of ABC’s 2011 Excellence in Construction Awards.

“EnviroVantage’s work represents the state-of-the-art in construction,” said Massachusetts ABC President Greg Beeman. “They should be justifiably proud of this achievement. Work of this caliber is helping to raise the standards of excellence throughout the construction industry.”

The company’s work on this project was supposed to last three weeks, but difficulties with site access turned that into six months. Competition judges noted security challenges that required the contractor to maintain the same employee team for the duration of the job.

Project owner Schroeder Construction Management was recognized along with EnviroVantage as part of the project team.

The award winners were determined by an independent panel of expert judges based on execution of design, craftsmanship, attention to detail, safety and other considerations. The judges were: Daniel Carson, Daniel Carson Consulting Engineering, Charles Sacre, Kleinfelder/SEA Consultants, Paul Tyrell, STV Incorporated, Jim Flanagan, FlanaConsulting.

Associated Builders and Contractors is the largest construction trade association in Massachusetts, representing more than 400 construction and construction-related firms, including developers, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and associates.

November’s PJ Movie Night will be on Friday, November 18th at 6:30 rather than the usual 2nd Friday, featuring the rated G sequel to the Disney/Pixar phenomenon starring Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater and friends. All children attending the movie must be accompanied by a responsible big person, and are encouraged to bring a snack to share and a spill-resistant beverage. Pizza from Epping’s Community Church and popcorn will be provided by the Friends of the Library. Pajamas, pillows and snugglies are welcome as always. The next Pajama Night will be the annual Magic of Christmas PJ Night on Friday, December 9th from 6:30 to 7:45, a great way to get in the spirit of the season with crafts, holiday goodies and a festive scavenger hunt throughout both floors of the library.

The Friends of the Harvey Mitchell Memorial Library in Epping will be holding a raffle in December to raise money for the many incidentals they provide to the library. In place of their usual silent auction, the F.O.L. will raffle 3 gift baskets and several local restaurant gift certificates between December 1st and the 16th.

Epping’s public library is open Monday – Friday from 10 am to 8 pm and Saturday 10 to 2. The library will be closed Thursday, November 24th for Thanksgiving. For more information call 679-5944, or visit www.eppinglibrary.com.
