“A rollicking band of pirates” is coming to Leddy Center’s new theater on Ladd’s Lane July 10-July 26.
Gilbert and Sullivan’s hilarious and most popular musical comedy, “The Pirates of Penzance,” is about Frederic, who was apprenticed to a band of pirates when he was a little boy, and whose indentures are just about up because he is nearing his 21st birthday. However, because it is discovered that he was born on February 29 in leap year, he is technically only 5 years old, and will have to rejoin the band of pirates.
The fun ensues with pirates, keystone cops, lovely maidens, one of whom is the beautiful Mabel who falls in love with Frederic, a major general, and Ruth, Frederic’s nursemaid.
