Epping Teacher a shoo-in as major-league Red Sox fan

October 16, 2007

Bruce Christie is probably one of the few Red Sox fans who can answer this question: What size sneakers did outfielder Mike Greenwell wear when he played for Boston during the 1980s and ’90s?

The answer can be found on the Haverhill man’s feet on Red Sox days - when he wears a pair of Greenwell’s old sneakers to the Epping, N.H., Middle School where he teaches.

Christie, 52, grew up rooting for the Sox. His late father, James Christie of Merrimac, was an avid fan and a close friend of Red Sox legend Johnny Pesky.
