Epping/Newmarket Sharing Football?

In an article on the Newmarket School Board budget by Melissa Lattman on Seacoast Online, the possibility is raised that Epping and Newmarket could pool players to form a single football team:

One possible new program is high school football with Epping High School. The joint Epping/Newmarket team would play at Epping. The cost to the district would be $10,000.

Shaheen, Shea Porter Speak At Legion

Former Governor Jeanne Shaheen and U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter both spoke to Rockingham County Democrats at the American Legion hall on Sunday. U.S. Senate Candidate Dr. Jay Buckey, a military veteran and former astronaut also spoke at the pot luck luncheon.

The Epping Girls soccer team advanced to the Class M semifinals with a 2-1 upset win over third-ranked Hopkinton.

Boys Soccer Team Eliminated

The Epping High boys soccer team was eliminated from the Class “M” playoffs after a tough 1-0 loss to White Mountains on Thursday.

Girls Soccer Team Advances

The Epping High girls soccer team scored a 3-2 win over White Mountains to advance to the Class M quarterfinals against Hopkinton on Saturday.

Casey Thorp, Megan Fortuna, and Kendall Booth scored the Epping goals.

Downtown Plan Restarted

October 23, 2007

One week after the board of selectmen halted the Core2 downtown revitalization project, they voted last night to restart it.The board’s move came after hearing a detailed description about the progress of the project from Rob Graham, chairman of the planning board.

Graham and town counsel John Ratigan gave a one-hour presentation clarifying several issues that were raised by the board last week.

The board halted construction due to questions about the initial approval of the project and possible environmental violations. Concerns were also raised about its source of funding.

Epping’s Smiling Seniors

Epping High School girls soccer team’s Senior Night had a little bit of everything last Thursday.

It had the Blue Devils’ version of the Blue Man Group … a massive halftime soccer-like game between the boys of the Epping football and soccer teams … three Epping goalies changing outfits like a magician shuffling cards … and one Raymond penalty kick.

Kaitlin Oldfield’s penalty kick midway through the second half carried the Rams to a 1-0 victory over Epping at the Seacoast United Soccer Club. The Rams (14-1-1) clinched the No. 1 seed and an opening round bye in the Class M tournament, which starts Wednesday.

Epping Football Drops Another

IN A SEASON full of disheartening losses for Epping High’s football, Winnisquam edged the Blue Devils, 20-15, on Saturday to continue the team’s five-game losing streak.

Senior wideout Curtis LeBreque burned Epping with five catches, 165 yards, and two touchdowns, with both scores coming in the first half, including a 59-yard catch early in the first quarter from sophomore quarterback Derick Jenness.

Raymond Topples Epping Volleyballers

It didn’t resemble volleyball. Nor did Epping High School’s new gym resemble its old one.

Then, like a flash of lightning, the Epping girls volleyball team charged up, and really, yes really, began to play during last Friday night’s match against Raymond.

No, they didn’t win. Raymond, led by the impressive play of their libero, Erika Fotino, won in three games, 25-11, 25-18, 25-12, and improved to 10-4 in Division III. The Blue Devils, who dropped to 5-8, however, did give notice that they might be a team to be reckoned with in the future.
